Austin Summerfest 2009 CW Pileup Competition
|
The CTDXCC sponsored the Second Annual CW Pileup Competition at the
Austin Summerfest amateur
radio convention. Chuck NO5W's software for real-time management and
display of the competition, all wirelessly networked from four laptops
in an adjacent testing room, worked flawlessly and provided a real
spectator experience for the audience gathered in an adjacent conference
room. The list of calls used in the creation of the contest "tape"
(actually a WAV file) by Tom N0SS of the
Kansas City DX Club was provided
by Richard K5NA. As he does in creating the official Dayton competition
audio file, Tom again took no prisoners with the Summerfest 2009 edition.
Gary W5ZL's winning score of 51 (out of the 100 calls in the test) took
the grand prize, a
Begali Graciella, Jr. gold paddle donated by Pietro Begali. Marv N5AW
was a close second with 49 call signs, winning a highly sought after
Rohn tower catalog donated by
WB0W. Bob W9BF, one of two competitors
who chose to go the paper rather than computer logging route, walked away
with ARRL Mini Logs also donated by WB0W.
Results
Results are listed in the number of call signs copied out of 100 sent.
The number of characters in the call signs copied was used as a tie-breaker.
