The first meeting of the CTDXCC Contest Branch
will be held on the afternoon of Sunday, July 23, 2005, at the home of
Richard King K5NA and Susan King K5DU. The meeting will be from
1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. After the meeting, most attendees will be going to
Ramos Mexican
Restaurante & Discoteca in downtown Manor, Texas. Richard
would appreciate an RSVP to let the restaurant know how many to expect.
Program
- A station inspection tour and checkout of what's new at the K5NA
station.
- George K5TR will be back from his participation in the
World Radiosport Team Championship
in Brazil, and will be presenting the high points of his trip.
- Terry AB5K and Tom N5TW will team up and host a "show and tell" of
tower climbing apparel and a discussion about how they use their
climbing belts, harnesses, and other climbing hardware.
- Joe W5ASP, the ARRL
Contest Advisory
Committee representative for the
West Gulf Division, will be
here to discuss current contesting issues. Joe will be soliciting our
input to take back to the committee.
- There will be a discussion about the recent IARU HF World Championship
contest, contest conditions and Texas-area results, as time allows.
Directions
From Austin: To get to the K5NA/K5DU QTH from Austin and
IH-35, go east on US 290 East towards Houston. Continue 1 mile past the
town of Manor, TX to the next traffic light (FM 973). Turn left (north)
at FM 973 and go EXACTLY 5.8 miles. The driveway is on the left side
of the road and the mailbox says 17726 on it and is on the right.
From Houston: To get to the K5NA/K5DU QTH from Houston
on US 290, continue past the town of Elgin for another 7 or 8 miles to
the light at FM 973. Turn right (north) and go EXACTLY 5.8 miles. The
driveway is on the left side of the road and the mailbox says 17726 on
it and is on the right.
You can clearly see the towers from the road. Drive slowly, as the
driveway is very bumpy. Park between the old barn and the old house.
